Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned from sale in Europe following a court ruling in Germany. Tablet, which was launched in Britain last week is now to be emptied from shelves and Samsung have to stop marketing it.
Apple won the Dusseldorf court to give a court order prohibiting the sale and marketing of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 all European countries except the Netherlands.
It is possible to apply for pan-European command in any country, which if enforced, covering all EU countries. Judge supports Apple's claim that the tablets Samsung has violated intellectual property rights and replicate elements of the iPad 2.
Although Samsung can appeal against the verdict, the court order is still running. Appeals will be heard within about four weeks and will be heard by the same judge.
Intellectual property analyst, Florian Muller, said Apple has a separate lawsuit in the Netherlands. He wrote in a blogpost: "Exception in the Netherlands due process of law in the country apart. Exceptions were only about Samsung's Korean parent company, rather than for its German subsidiary."
Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the latest tablet computers from Korean manufacturers. The original version of the Galaxy is a 7-inch tablet, but this year adopted a model similar to the iPad screen size and slightly thinner than the iPad 2. According to several retailers, Galaxy 10.1 becomes the fastest selling tablets since iPad 2 was launched in the UK.
An Apple spokeswoman said: "It's no coincidence that the latest Samsung products very similar to the iPhone and iPad, the form of hardware to the user interface and even the packaging. Imitation is obviously blatantly wrong, and we need to protect intellectual property rights of Apple when the company steals our ideas. "
A Samsung spokesman said the company could not comment on legal proceedings.
This case is the second commandment of the tablets obtained Apple Samsung. The launch of Galaxy Tab 10.1 Australia postponed indefinitely last week after Apple filed a complaint to the Federal Court of Australia.
Apple sued Samsung in April this year for patent and trademark infringement. A few days later, Samsung issued a counter claim.
